The golf course is a major recreational facility for Bellingen and
provides an attractive park-like entry to the town precinct. Floods
in recent years have impacted heavily on the course and present an
ongoing challenge to the viability of the Club. The Flood Recovery
Program is attempting to put in place measures that limit the impact
of floods on both the course and the club's infrastructure. Projects
completed to date include major river bank plantings and the
construction of a levy that protects the club house from all but
extreme flood events.
The “Rock the Dam Day” follows on from the very successful “Flood
Recovery Day” held last year, and is aimed at raising funds to
enable the Club to permanently stabilise the western end of the
irrigation dam, next to the club house, which eroded badly during
the floods in 2009.
