Bellingen Golf Report 23rd January 2017
Wednesday 18th - extremely hot conditions for the mid-week comps this week. W King was triumphant in the Chook run with 25 points over P Warman with 23 on a C/B. The NTP went to R Cowley. Later in the afternoon there were only 9 for the Short Course. T Cuthel was the winner with 27.5 over S McCabe with 28.8. The target pins were won by T Cuthel and I Ridgewell.
Thursday 19th - the 9 hole Medley was rained off and will return on 2nd February as our regulars will join the Australia Day Ambrose on 26th. It dried off enough by lunchtime for our Seniors to put on their 12 hole comp which was won by S McCabe with 26 points. R/U was M Edsall with 24 on a C/B. Balls went to 21 points and included T Cuthel, T Brown, M Rose and R Hickson. NTPs were awarded to R Hickson and B Parsons.
Saturday 21st - the Monthly Medal stroke round was sponsored by the Wanderers and incorporated the Medal of Medals and the Mug of Mugs for 2016. Our 'A' Grade winner was a visitor, B Hawley from Kurri Kurri with a gross 73 (nett 64) over R/U G Jones with 79 (67). As visitors are not eligible, G Jones was awarded the 'A' Grade Medal and his score also took the Monthly Mug. 'B' Grade was taken by B Baigent on a C/B with 93 (72) over T Brown, 89 (72). 'C' Grade champ on a C/B was F Sheridan with 95 (71) over T Khan. The putting contest was won by S Carr with a fine 24. NTPs went to R Teasel, R Williams, C Osland (2), T Wilson-Brown, and G Jones. Balls went to 71 and included C Smith, Oz, S Carr, N Jenkins, J Lavis and G Hawke. The winner of the Medal of Medals was G Jones, and C Smith took the Mug of Mugs.
