Bellingen Golf Report 6th January 2017
Wednesday 1st - another hot week in Bello, and a battle for supremacy in the Chook Run. P Ireland won on a C/B from B Mitchell, both with the fantastic score of 25 points. P Ireland was truly on form, taking the Target Hole as well. Later in the afternoon another fight for the Short Course Challenge was edged by G Jones with a nett 24.9, narrowly taking the prize from J Taylor on 25. Next week for the first time we will have two players with a handicap lower than scratch for this comp - Jonesey at +0.9 and Jayden on +1.0. Well done both!
Thursday 2nd - 12 players for the 9 hole Medley. Roz Hemsley was victorious with 17 points on a C/B from Vilma Neill, who had a birdie on the 3rd. No NTPs this week. Next week we aim to start at 7am so put your names down in advance for cars to be printed early. It cooled down slightly for the Seniors' 12 hole Stableford which was won by R Hind with 26 points over T Brown with 24. Balls went to 21 points on a C/B and included D Champion, R Hickson, C McLellan and B Parsons. NTPs were bagged by D Champion and R Bruce.
Saturday 4th - a 2BBB sponsored by Bellingen Cellars attracted a field of 35 players. The morning team of J Carty and R Raward were tops with 52 points; R/U was the combo of T Brown and R Crawford with 47 on a C/B. Balls went to individual scores of 38 and included P Lazarus, N Farrar, M Brownlee, N Jenkins, D Lowe, W Knight, C Osland and B Baigent. NTPs went to K Lloyd (2), N Jenkins (2), B Smith and N Farrar. Next week it's the Monthly Medal sponsored by G & J O'Connor. It's also the Qualifying Round for the Courier Sun Matchplay, and only the top 16 will qualify.
